2 Questions To Ask When I'm Feeling Down

Although I know several things I can do to make myself happier when I am upset or feeling down, I must say it is not easy to do it.

It is normal for me to focus on the negative things that are happening to me which will cause me to spiral downwards and become stuck.

So how? What can I do? I found the below 2 questions to be really helpful.

1st Decide > Do I really want to get out of the negativity?

2nd Think + Action > What can I do now to feel better?

Most of the time, I actually know what I can do to feel better. Somehow or rather, I just don’t do it. I may give tons of excuses for not taking action. Then I ask why I am so sad, down or etc. I don’t take action to help myself feel better, of course I am not going to feel better. If I want to wait for others to make me feel better, I just got to keep waiting! If I can do it myself, why don’t I do it? Stop giving the control of my own happiness to others. Control it myself. Happiness starts from self. Start taking control of my own happiness.

Am I saying that it is easy? Of course not! All I am saying is that, it will be worth it.

One Thing To Do To Pick Myself Up

This one thing may seem so simple and I find that it really helps, yet I may not actually do it. From my point of view, I think that I may have simply not remember it and I keep focusing on the negative thing that is happening to me. That eventually leads me to spiral downwards. OUCH!

So what is the one thing to remember, so that I can do it to stop myself from spiraling downwards? It is rather simple.

Give thanks for all the good things in my life! Shift my focus to the good things that I have instead of what I don’t.

So the next time I am are feeling upset or down. Give thanks and I will start feeling good. Do this even when I am feeling happy, I will feel even happier. ^_^

Facing Criticism

Take a moment to understand the situation and to distinguish between constructive and negative criticism. I can’t control the negativity of others, but I can control myself. Responding to negativity in a rational way can help to empower myself and build my confidence.
